We brought a new collection of updates and improvements to the Luigi’s Box application to make your workflows even better than before. In this newsletter, our experts will introduce you to the most impactful changes. Let’s get started with the most important update.
Pin-to-Position for Recommender
The well-known Pin-to-Position feature for Search is now also available in our Recommender.
The Recommender Pin-to-Position allows you to pin items to a specific position. This feature is incredibly useful for promoting selected products.
But there’s more to it
Recommender Pin-to-Position, which you already know from Search as Pin-to-Position, comes as a part of the new Recommendations Customization dashboard. This comprehensive dashboard is packed with various options to customize recommendations. We went a bit further this time, and we allow pins for entire Recommenders, specific items, or groups of items that share selected properties. We call them criteria pins.
From Search, you already know that you can select a date range and pin a specific item. With Recommender Pin-to-Position, you can pin products with specific properties as well. The criteria can include specific brands, product categories, or a combination of them. The Recommender then selects the most relevant items that fulfill these criteria and recommends them based on user preferences and current item popularity.
You can find Recommendations Customization in the Recommendations section of the main menu on the left in the Luigi’s Box app. Recommender pins are ideal for promoting items that are different from the recommended products. They’re also great for bringing attention to products from your campaigns. Thanks to its configuration flexibility, this feature also ensures better product recommendations relevancy. Recommendations customization aims to replace and upgrade the Rules feature.
Migration of Query-to-Query Fixit Redirects
Query-to-Query Fixit Redirects will be migrated in the Luigi’s Box application in the upcoming months, but you can use the new Rewrite Query feature instead.
Rewrite Query is a useful feature that allows you to simply select specific queries and rewrite them into different ones. So, if a customer enters such a query, it will show results for a query you set up.
This feature is great for removing queries that produce “no results” or for queries that need a specific customization to help you get the maximum out of Search. It’s also a game-changer for promoting campaigns and more.
For example, let’s say your store sells running shoes, but you don’t sell any from the Adidas brand. Now, if a customer makes a search for Adidas running shoes, the search would turn up with no results. However, now you can use the Rewrite Query feature and change the query “Adidas” to the query “Nike.” If a customer now does a search for Adidas running shoes, Search will provide results for Nike running shoes instead of no results.
Additionally, you can let your customers know why the query was changed. For example, you can explain to your customers when this change occurs using a custom text, e.g.: “We know you were searching for Adidas shoes, but we currently don’t have those in stock. We believe Nike is a great alternative brand, so we are showing you Nike results instead.”
